2013年
大問I “Against Zoos” by Anne E. Malls (2010) は (名詞to) end them all (最低最悪の名詞)の縮約で’em ということか。
大問II “In Defense of Zoos” by N. Viro and D. Velle (2009) は environment とdevelopment の頭だけ採った?
2014年
大問I “Inequality and Growth” by Anne Faerrar (2012) は unfairer でしょうね。
大問II “Youth Unemployment: Whose Responsibility?” by Ivan O’Werke (2012) は、意味から考えれば I’ve been out of work.
I “In Defense of Traditional Marriage” by Noah Reinbos (2014) は、同性婚反対派ですから、 No Rainbows にかけているのでしょう。
大問II “Following Ireland, for Better or for Worse” by Roy G. Biv

As soon as he sawとThe moment he sawでダブルスコア近い差。
Directly he saw やNo sooner had he seen
AmE
BrE
I had hardly left the building when I was asked some questions by a police officer.
The (moment) I left the building, I was asked some questions by a police officer.
a. As soon as I left home, it started to rain.
b. On leaving home, it started to rain.
cf. pay the bill on leaving
The victim was pronounced dead on arrival (at the hospital).
c. The moment [instant / minute] I left home, it started to rain.
d. When I left home, it started to rain at once [immediately].
It started to rain immediately after I left home.
e. No sooner had I left home than it started to rain.
No sooner than I left
f. Immediately [Directly] I left home, it started to rain.
g. I had scarcely left home before it started to rain.
h. I had hardly left home when it started to rain.
scarcelyはbeforeと、hardlyはwhenと結びつくことが多い(COCAだとhardly + when : hardly + before = 70 : 15位の比率) が、逆の組み合わせもある。
? He had hardly left the hospital before he went back to work.
He had hardly left the hospital before he had to go back to work.
i. Hardly had I left home when it started to rain.
j. Scarcely had I left home before it started to rain.
Hardly had he left the room when he burst into laughter.
Hardly had I climbed the second hill when I heard sounds coming after me. Faster and faster I ran with my load for my father, but the sounds were gaining upon me.

I believe that Japanese people need longer, continuous vacations. It provides an opportunity to evaluate their daily efforts more objectively, and by creating more time for themselves, they can take on new hobbies or engage in reskilling. The stress from work is generally greater than imagined, and in a situation where experts point out that it can damage physical and mental health, an extended vacation would be a period to restore their health before it is too late. Some people worry about the negative economic impact of all Japanese taking vacations at a time. That could be addressed, however, by timing adjustments and other measures after first achieving a prolonged vacation. Indeed, even a fool would say, “Give me a break.” (121 words)

These results demonstrate that at a regional level, oyster fisheries were resilient and experienced multiple stable states over the last 5000 years before the 1900s.
