「呟き」で大量に投下していましたが、この一週間は「山口県英語教育フォーラム」の足跡を振り返っていました。昨年までの8回のフォーラムの述べ参加者数は、今回の全英連・山口大会の参加者と同数くらいなんでしょうね。
そんなことを考えていた今週の実作をば。
高2は、一足先に期末試験。範囲は「条件節のタイプ２と３」「even though とeven ifの使い分け」「しくみ」の3項目です。
最後の授業では、「目の見えるしくみ」で相応に苦労しましたね。その甲斐があるといいのですが。
高3は、writing a better argumentative passage とでもいうべき「学び」。
まあ、何のことはない、巷に 蔓延る 溢れる「大学入試『自由英作文』問題の解答例」にダメ出しをし続けて、よりよい「つながり」と「まとまり」を感じるだけです。
これまでにも、このブログで紹介してきましたので、再録はしません。ただ、このブログで指摘するだけではなく、密林レビューでも、「呟き」の方でも指摘しつづけて、古いものではもう十年近く経とうとしているのに、旧態然というか、英語に成り切れていない「エイブン」を解答として用意し、そこから逆算で後出しじゃんけんをするような教材が新刊で出てくる状況を見ると、「ライティング」はやはり、英語の目利き腕利きの教師と共に、教室で課題に取り組み、自分の目と腕を鍛えないと上手くいかないのではないか、という思いを強くしています。

- 「テクスト」としてのダイナミズムを感じられない、ただ5W1Hのquestioning を行う
とか、
- 主題への収束を自ら難しくするような、「マッピング」と称した、ただのアイデアの拡散
には全く魅力を感じません。
今日の授業では、前日に、四軒家忍先生と「呟き」でやりとりをした、ディスコースマーカー、つなぎ語、などと呼ばれる語句に関する「戒め」を。
私も、拙著『パラグラフ・ライティング指導入門』では「頭だしチャンク」のリストを紹介していますが、あれが活きるのは、「テーマ語彙を充実に基づく内容の確からしさ」と「アイデアジェネレーションに時間を掛けたことによる論理の確からしさ」があればこそです。
四軒家先生も、ご自身のブログで同じ項目を取り上げ、書かれていました。問題意識を共有できる方がいるのは嬉しいことです。
拙ブログのこのエントリー (http://d.hatena.ne.jp/tmrowing/20160224) でも指摘しましたが、まだまだ「つなぎ語」の空所補充のような指導で終わっている指導者や教材が多い気がします。
ということで、「つなぎ語、指導するならこんな風に」とでもいう練習問題。

これは、拙著の英文の再加工で、呟きの最中に急いで拵えたものですが、とかく、1 のような空所補充で、適切なディスコースマーカーを選び英文を完成して「論理」が分かったというような錯覚が積み重なっているように思います。同じ空所補充なら、まだ2 のタイプの方がマシかと。
その後、9年以上前の過去ログの山岡大基先生の研究授業での取り組み (http://d.hatena.ne.jp/tmrowing/20070928) を印刷して、高校生の目指すことができる「英文ライティング」の姿を眺めつつ、「地道に英文を読む」ことの重要性を説いて終了。
高1は、「リスニングテスト制覇の旅」の続き。
「つながり」と「まとまり」を支える、「話型（話形）」の重要性をずーーーーっと説いています。
今日は、これまでに扱った「素材文」で「つながり」と「まとまり」が保たれている（希有な？）ものはそのまま、主として私がリライトしたものを使って「対面リピート」。中には、200語を超えるものもあるので、一つのピースで5分間に区切ってやってみました。当然、復習の覚束ないところは読み手もしどろもどろとなりますから、リピートどころではなくなります。
まあ、それに気づいた後で盤石の基礎を築く取り組みへとつながるか、が一番重要なのですけれど。
英語が苦手、という以前に、「人の話」を聞いてその内容や主題が掴めない、という生徒を多数見てきたので、この活動を高1で行っているわけです。
例えば、先日紹介した「バスツアーでのアナウンス」(http://d.hatena.ne.jp/tmrowing/20161125) を考えてみると、その話型（話形）は、

などが「典型的な話型（話形）」となるでしょう。問題の解法などは後でやればいいので、まずは、その「ベタな」話しをしっかりと追っていき、話しを聞けることが重要だと思います。

「大阪に来る前の京都時代の話が何もないのは、なぜ？」という私自身の素朴な疑問に自分で答えたものです。
あくまでも話型（話形）をハッキリと理解させるための脚色であって、京都の方に対しての他意はありませんので、何卒ご理解を。
Hello, everyone. I have to say goodbye to you today. I’ll leave Japan next week. …. Yes, so soon. I’ll come back home. I have been teaching you English for four years, and I’m loving every minute of it.
I came to Japan five years ago and taught English to high school students in Kyoto for a year. I couldn’t speak Japanese well, and I always tried my best to communicate with the local people, but …. I don’t want to talk much about the year in Kyoto, though.
Then, I moved to Osaka. I hoped that people in Osaka would be cheerful and friendly. And here, I met you. …. In fact, everyone was really nice to me. Here in Osaka, I enjoy, for the first time, yes, it’s true, I enjoy talking with you in Japanese. My Japanese is much better now. I’m really happy I have been with you for four years.
Now, I’ll give you one last advice…, or that could be a kind of request. When you have some trouble about learning English, don’t think it’s too difficult. You don’t have to enjoy “speaking” English. Go and look for someone who you can enjoy “being with”. If you “are” with such people, you will soon start talking with them. That’s what I have learned here in Osaka.
When I come home, I’m going to tell my family and my friends a lot about Osaka, the city I’m most proud of. Thank you. (247 words)
最後には、生徒への私自身のメッセージも込められています。ただ「楽しめ」と言われて、楽しめるくらいなら誰も苦労しませんって。そこに至る道だって、「それぞれ、それなり、そのうち」ですから。
